What Is Spravato?
Spravato is an FDA-approved prescription nasal spray containing esketamine. It is specifically designed for adults with treatment-resistant depression (TRD) or major depressive disorder (MDD) with acute suicidal ideation or behavior. Unlike traditional antidepressants, spravato works on a different neural pathway and is always used in conjunction with a daily oral antidepressant.
Your Spravato Treatment Session
Arrival and Preparation
When you arrive at our partner clinic, the care team will welcome you and guide you to a comfortable, private room. They will review your treatment plan, answer any questions you may have, and take baseline measurements like your blood pressure before you begin.
Administering the Nasal Spray
Under our provider’s guidance, you will self-administer the spravato nasal spray. The provider will show you how to use the device correctly to ensure you receive the proper dose. The process is quick and straightforward.
Monitoring at Our Partner Clinic
After administration, you will relax at our partner clinic for a mandatory two-hour observation period. During this time, the clinic’s care team will monitor you for any potential side effects and ensure your comfort. You can rest, listen to music, or read during this quiet time.
Arranging Your Departure
You will not be able to drive or operate heavy machinery for the rest of the day after your treatment. Before your first session, you must arrange for a friend or family member to drive you home. Our team will confirm your transportation is in place before you are discharged.
