GeneSight Testing in Vancouver, WA & Lakewood, WA

Pacific Phoenix Psychiatry and TMS offers GeneSight testing to provide a more personalized approach to medication management. This advanced tool helps our providers understand how your unique genetic profile may influence your response to certain psychiatric medications. By integrating this data, we aim to reduce the trial-and-error process and guide you toward a more effective treatment plan sooner.

What Is GeneSight Testing?

GeneSight is a pharmacogenomic test that analyzes variations in your genes to provide information about how your body may respond to different psychiatric medications. It is not a test for a specific diagnosis but a tool to help your provider make more informed prescription decisions. The report provides insights into which medications may be more or less likely to be effective based on your genetic makeup.

The GeneSight Testing Process

Initial Provider Consultation

Your journey begins with a consultation with one of our providers. We will discuss your mental health history, previous medication experiences, and determine if GeneSight is an appropriate tool for your treatment plan.

Collecting your DNA sample is quick, painless, and done right in our office. A simple swab is used to gently rub the inside of your cheek to gather the necessary cells. The entire collection process takes only a few minutes.

Once collected, your sample is sent securely to the GeneSight laboratory for processing. There, it is analyzed to identify genetic variations that can affect how you metabolize and respond to dozens of common psychiatric medications.

When the results are ready, you will have a follow-up appointment with your provider. We will review the comprehensive report with you, explaining the findings and discussing how this information will guide future medication choices as part of your overall treatment.
